Well, my friends….I am saying “Farewell!!” for 3 weeks and embarking on an adventure with my fellow dietetic interns to India. I am excited, nervous, giddy…I am expecting a life-changing experience! My goal is to keep track of my reflections and experiences here on my brand new blog. 🙂
Let me preface my adventure a bit. We will be flying in to Goa, India, which I have heard is a city to be experienced on its own! Color, amazing food, diverse culture! I feel lucky that our first few days in India will be spent here – seeing the sights, tasting the food!
3 weeks of delicious Indian food??? Um, yes please.
Our Indian hosts – graduate students from the University of Agricultural Sciences in Dharwad – will be picking us up and driving us to where we will spend the bulk of the experience. Check it out up close on this map: India Map
Goa is right on the coast….look inland a tad and you will find Dharwad (it’s in the Karnataka state).
This is where we will be staying. Top-notch, eh?
We will be staying at the International Hostel that is part of the University. We will be working with the grad students at our host university, studying nutrition and developing an intervention to implement in the community – so stay tuned to see what we come up with!
As they say in Kannada – the native language of Karnataka…Aste, mugiyithu, Namaskara!! (That’s all, good bye!)
Maybe I’ll see one of these? One can only hope!
